Hello to all who have stumbled accross this group!

The aim of this group is to accumulate knowledge for all laws regarding taxidermy and what laws different countries have.

We will hope to include step by step guides in acquiring certain items, how to deal with CITES, import and export laws amongst other things.

The group will be split up into the following;

United Kingdom
European Union
Russia
Canada
United States of America
Australia

There will be an "Other" section for laws that don't apply to one country.
If your country has specific rules then please let us know and we can get it up.
Who knows we may even need you to help mange it

This will be an ongoing project which we hope to keep updated and to also help shed light on the sometimes difficult and overwhelming rules to taxidermy.

Importing Wolves and other animals from The US.The following is a copy of both the email I sent to DEFRA and the reply I received. I thought some of you might find it useful
the list of animals are from the list of 13 species which are on the list for import controls on furs and products from animals caught in leg-hold traps, see this guide for more info https://www.gov.uk/importing-animal-furs-skins-and-fish foxes are not on this list and there are less restrictions on importing fox fur. parcels must be labelled as fox fur though. this email conversation does not touch on fox fur.

I am writing to ask if it is possible to import wolf (canis lupus) pelts that have been tanned by a commercial company in the United States of America into the UK.
From my reading, my understanding is that it is legal to import with the correct documents and by following the correct procedure, but I am unsure of which exact documents is needed, and how to get the process started.
